Priority at Intersections (Priority Roads)

At intersections without traffic lights, priority is determined by road signs, the presence or absence of dividing lines, direction of travel, etc.

Priority by Priority Road

When there are no traffic lights, vehicles on the priority road always have priority.

1. Roads with Priority Signs:

This sign indicates a "priority road." When this sign is present, vehicles on that road have priority.

2. Centerline Extending into the Intersection:

If the centerline extends into the intersection, vehicles on that road have priority. In the illustration, the vehicle at position ① has priority, and the vehicle at position ② must not obstruct the vehicle at ①. This applies regardless of whether the vehicle is going straight, turning right, or turning left.

Priority by Road Width

At intersections where both vehicles lack dividing lines, the vehicle on the wider road has priority.

Priority by Direction of Travel

At intersections without priority and where roads have similar widths, priority is determined based on the direction of travel and relative position.

When roads intersect, traffic from the left has priority. In the illustration, the vehicle at position ① has priority.

Additionally, when facing oncoming traffic, going straight or turning left takes priority over turning right.
